The St George Illawarra Dragons have suffered a 16-2 loss to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Monday afternoon at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park.

The only points of the first half came courtesy of Dragons skipper Gareth Widdop who kicked a penalty goal in the 20th minute – the 2-0 advantage would last well into the second half.

The Bulldogs finally crossed for the first try of the game in the 54th minute when Josh Morris sliced his way past the Dragons defence to score.

The Bulldogs scored again in the 69th minute when hooker Michael Lichaa scooted over from dummy-half untouched to extend their lead to 10 points.

Bulldogs winger Marcelo Montoya sealed the victory for the Bulldogs when he proved the benefactor of a battle for a high ball to score in the corner.

The Bulldogs' 14-point win ended on a sour note when Dragons centre Taane Milne ended the game in the sin-bin after striking Josh Morris.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 16 (Josh Morris, Michael Lichaa, Marcelo Montoya tries; Moses Mbye 2 goals) defeated St George Illawarra Dragons 2 (Gareth Widdop goal) at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park. Half-time: Dragons 2-0. Crowd: 24,083.
