The St George Illawarra Dragons can confirm that rising front-rower Ruby-Jean Kennard-Ellis has signed a new deal with the club.
The deal keeps the 23-year-old with the Dragons until at least the end of the 2027 season.
“I’m grateful to be extending my time with the Dragons,” Kennard-Ellis said.
“It was a big year for me, and I really enjoyed my footy this season. I had a great time building relationships with everyone at the club, and I have a lot of faith in the direction we are heading.”
Kennard-Ellis proved a revelation for Head Coach Nathan Cross, starting every match in the front row and notching four tries – the most by any front-rower in the NRLW – to go with an average of 87 run metres.
“I really enjoyed my footy this season. I had a great time building relationships with everyone at the club, and I have a lot of faith in the direction we are heading.”
She also earned a maiden Australian Prime Minister’s XIII call-up at season’s end.
Cross praised Kennard-Ellis’ attitude and application throughout the season.
“Ruby was excellent for us all year,” Cross said.
“She ended up being one of our real success stories. She started every game for us and became an integral part of our team because of her professional approach and willingness to learn.
“She started the year on our development list, earned herself a supplementary contract, and now jumps up into our Top 24. Ruby’s an awesome example of the value of hard work, and we’re excited to know she’ll remain a Dragon for 2027.”
