Dragons standouts Kasey Reh, Montana Clifford, Tahlia O’Brien, Ruby-Jean Kennard-Ellis, Tori Shipton and Ahlivia Ingram were today selected in the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII.
Reh, a Western Suburbs Red Devils product, last week added a Dragons Medal to an already impressive list of accolades, which includes a Dally M Rookie of the Year award, three Prime Minister’s XIII selections, two Under 19s State of Origin Player of the Match honours and a Tarsha Gale Cup Player of the Series award.
Still only 20, Reh was tasked with leading the team around the park and appeared in every match, finishing eighth in the premiership for kicks with 94 and sixth for kick metres with 2,488, while also recording five forced dropouts and 263 tackles.
Clifford, in her first year as a Dragon, proved a star on the left edge playing in all 11 matches, averaging 66 run metres and tallying 251 tackles – the fourth-highest mark on the team.
O’Brien this year grew into one of the squad’s most dependable outside backs, scoring three tries, assisting on five others and averaging 69 run metres en route to a NRLW Emerging Talent nod.
Kennard-Ellis proved a revelation for Head Coach Nathan Cross starting at prop in every match and notching four tries – the most of any in her position in the premiership – to go along with 87 average run metres.
Shipton meanwhile backed up her rookie year with another strong campaign in which she again made a name for herself as a spark plug No.14 whilst Ingram, in her second year as a Dragon, made a half-dozen appearances off the interchange totalling 101 tackles at close to 93 per cent efficiency.
The Australian Men’s and Women’s Prime Minister’s XIII squads take on PNG PM’s XIII teams at Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby on Saturday, October 3.
