St George Illawarra Dragons fullback Matt Dufty officially helped unveil the playing strip to be worn at the NRL Auckland Nines competition taking place at Eden Park, Auckland in 2017.
This playing strip will be worn for both the two-day tournament as well as all other pre-season fixtures involving the Dragons.
The local Penshurst RSL junior featured for the Red-and-Whites in the corresponding NRL Auckland Nines tournament last season and is keen to take part again if selected.
The Dragons have been included in the Piha Pool alongside the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Parramatta Eels and New Zealand Warriors in the two-day tournament to be staged on Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5.
“The NRL Nines is such a fun tournament and I was really stoked to be a part of it last pre-season,” said Dufty.
“It is a really good tournament for us smaller guys to show what we’re capable of and to feed off the support of the fans in the crowd.
“I really like the jersey we are wearing as it’s always something different and the boys are keen on it too.”
All 16 NRL teams will enter the tournament which carries prize money of more than $AU2.4 million.
The teams, which have nine players, are split into the four pools and play nine minute halves.
The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage of the tournament before the two top teams play in the final.
Full details on the tournament schedule will be confirmed at a later date.
