St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team prop George Lolo is determined to impress against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park on Saturday.

The Corrimal Cougars junior was a late selection to the line-up against Wests Tigers following the omission of co-captain Addin Fonua-Blake though injury last round and admits his opportunity to return to the team came in unfortunate circumstances.

Despite this, he intends to seize his opportunity and cement a starting spot permanently in the team with another strong performance against the second-placed Roosters this weekend.

“It was a big relief for me to be selected but it’s unfortunate for Addin,” said Lolo.

“I see him as a little brother so it’s sad he got injured but fortunately for me I got the call and took it with both hands.

“My preparation leading into the game against the Tigers was to run hard and hold the ball awhile trying to develop some fast play-the-balls for the boys.

“I also tried to help lead the pack forward which seemed to work.

“The Roosters will be another tough test for us as we are both on the same number of competition points, except they have a better differential.

“We have all been working hard this week in training and hopefully it pays off on Saturday.”
