St George Illawarra Dragons prop Jack de Belin is literally counting the minutes ahead of the Emergency Services Cup fixture against the Melbourne Storm at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Monday.

The Cootamundra Bulldogs junior remains invigorated with the recent increase in game time he has experienced since a one-week spell with the Illawarra Cutters to boost his fitness.

De Belin also admits the entire team are buoyed by recent on-field performances and has heaped praise on Head Coach Paul McGregor for his no-nonsense approach to the game.

“The feeling around camp is really good at the moment and everyone’s coming to training with a happy and positive attitude,” said de Belin.

“This is demonstrated out on the field with the results that have been coming our way recently.

“My spell with the Cutters was only for the one week but it was good to help me with my fitness more so than anything else as I was told by Paul that I needed to build up minutes.

”Since my return to the top spot I’ve been happy with my performances.

“Paul is very upfront and does say things how they are and sometimes you do need to hear the harsh truth.

“Everyone is improving and working well under Mary.”
