St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition winger William Tom was pleased with his teammates efforts in their 36-24 victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs, on Monday night.
The debutant displayed his workhorse efforts, even crossing the stripe for his first try during the final minutes of the game.
"It was a pleasing effort by all the boys and we were pretty happy to come away with the win," Tom said.
"It was pretty tough out there, Souths have some big boys in their squad, but we put in the effort and it paid off for us.
"I am very honoured to have been given the opportunity, it's a great feeling to wear the Red V.
"It was nice to get across the stripe in my first game too!
"Mum and Dad were at the game, so no doubt they were just as stoked as I was.
"We've had a good few weeks at training and I was happy that I got the call up this week.
"It will be good to be back in front of our home crowd at WIN Stadium, hopefully we get the points this week too."
