St George Illawarra Dragons Junior Representative Jack Cross is excited by the opportunity to represent the NSW U16 Blues after his representative selection on Tuesday.

The Illawarra Steelers Harold Matthews player is part of 17-man squad named by co-Head Coaches Ben Hornby and Dean Young that will challenge the Queensland Maroons at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Wednesday.

The surname ‘Cross’ is no stranger to the Dragons with Jack’s father John and grandfather Greg both representing the Club over the years.

John Cross made 155 first-grade appearances for the Club in a career spanning both the Illawarra Steelers (1991-97) and the St George Illawarra Dragons (2003).

The Port Kembla product played 136 first-grade games for the Steelers and scored 32 tries as well as captaining the team in a narrow 11-10 loss to Great Britain in 1992.

Following several seasons with the Penrith Panthers, he returned to the St George Illawarra Dragons for a final campaign that saw him play 19 fixtures.

Additionally, Greg Cross made two first-grade appearances for the St George Dragons during the 1970 campaign.
