St George Illawarra and the NRL have announced the Dragons' fixtures for the upcoming 2022 NRL Telstra Premiership and postponed 2021 NRL Women's Premiership seasons.
All relevant stakeholders were engaged when determining our 2022 NRL home game fixtures upon the club obtaining the allocations earlier this week, as determined by the NRL and host broadcasters.
The Dragons will commence their season on the Sunshine Coast against the New Zealand Warriors before returning home in Round 2 at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah against reigning premiers Penrith.
Illawarra-based Dragons fans will get their first taste of rugby league action at WIN Stadium the following week with local derby action against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.
The Dragons will be hitting the road again in 2022, with games scheduled for Melbourne and Canberra in addition to four Queensland-based fixtures (twice Brisbane and once to Townsville and the Sunshine Coast each).
The 2022 draw has delivered two Thursday night, three Fridays, seven Saturdays and 11 Sunday games in addition to the Dragons' traditional Anzac Day fixture which will be played on a Monday this season.
The Dragons can also confirm the annual Charity Shield clash against the South Sydney Rabbitohs will take place on Saturday, February 26 at Mudgee's Glen Willow Stadium with tickets to go on sale this week.
The Dragons NRLW team will make their long-awaited return after last season's campaign was delayed until February, with their 2021 draw also finalised on Tuesday.
"Determining our home game venues is always a complex matter but our Red V members, partners and fans should ultimately be happy with the allocation of games at our traditional home grounds in Kogarah and Wollongong," Dragons CEO Ryan Webb said.
"We will aptly celebrate the late St George legend and rugby league immortal Norm Provan against incumbent Provan-Summons Trophy recipients, the Penrith Panthers, in Round 2 at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium before a huge local derby clash against the Sharks at WIN Stadium the following week.
"Being able to host the annual Anzac Day for the first time in four years is an honour that we have missed and much looking forward to as well.
"Being able to host NRLW games in both Kogarah and Wollongong for the first time ever is another exciting development ahead of a huge year for our club."
The Dragons' 2022 NRL and NRLW 2021 draws coincides with Red V membership going on sale for both teams last week. Be in that number. Become a Red V member today. For more information on membership, please visit: dragons.com.au/membership.
