Perennial VB Hard Earned chart-toppers Cameron McInnes and Aiden Tolman produced two of the biggest performances of the year in round eight.

McInnes' index score of 123 is the equal-best for the year (matching the score of Isaah Yeo in round three) while Tolman's 120 is equal next-best.

McInnes' dual hooker-lock role saw him rack up 16 carries, 19 supports and a whopping 66 tackles across 80 minutes while Tolman was valiant in a loss to Souths with 52 tackles and 158 metres in a huge 65-minute spell.

The VB Hard Earned team celebrates the true toilers of the game who don't always get the credit.

Each round players receive a VB Hard Earned index score that is calculated by doubling their total runs and adding a point for every tackle, offload, decoy, support, charge down and tackle break.

A gripping golden point game between the Storm and the Roosters saw plenty of heavy contributions from the losing side in particular.

Angus Crichton (85 thanks to 54 tackles, 95 metres, four busts and a try assist) and James Tedesco (86 with 268 metres, nine busts, four offloads and a try-save) were worthy team of the week members along with Luke Keary.

A typically massive effort from Warriors forward Tohu Harris was rewarded with another team of the week nod and crucially, a victory on-field with an index score of 112 thanks to his 51 tackles and 238 metres.

A typically busy game from Broncos prop Payne Haas pushed him past Yeo to the top of the overall tally with a score of 745 while McInnes is up to eighth despite missing the first two rounds injured. He is the only player to average more than 100 on the index.
