The St George Illawarra Dragons announced on Friday that Will Matthews has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will see him remain at the Club until at least the end of 2017.
Matthews, 27, joined the Club from the Gold Coast Titans prior to the commencement of the 2012 season and has played 65 NRL games to date.
The Kyogle Turkeys junior has been utilised both across the forward-pack and front-row this season and was also recently named in the 2015 NSW Cup Representative team.
“I am very happy to be able to continue representing the Dragons and am focused now on playing to the best of my ability under Head Coach Paul McGregor,” said Matthews.
“It was an easy decision for me to make given my family and I are very settled in the area and for myself being able to play alongside quality players here at the Club.”
Dragons Director of Recruitment and Retention Peter Mulholland is happy by Matthews’ decision to remain at the Club for a further two seasons.
“It is great news that Will has decided to continue his stay and this is a real sign of confidence for what Paul McGregor is building here at the Club,” said Mulholland.
“Will is a versatile player who has a very strong work ethic which is reflected in the way he both conducts himself during training as well as on the field when representing the Dragons.”
