The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced on Wednesday that second-rower Tyson Frizell has agreed to terms on a contract extension that will see him remain at the Club until at least the end of 2017.

Frizell, 22, is a local junior from the Corrimal Cougars who joined the Red V at the beginning of the 2013 season from the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and made his Club debut in the opening round against the Melbourne Storm.

The Wales international, who recently competed in the Rugby League World Cup, has played 34 NRL games to date and is excited by the opportunity to continue his development at the Dragons.

I am thrilled to have been able to secure my future with the Dragons, said Frizell.

I have had nothing but positive experiences since arriving here and I look forward to many more great years wearing the Red V and representing the Club.

Dragons Head Coach Steve Price is delighted by the local juniors decision to remain at the Club.

Its very pleasing for everyone at the Dragons that Tyson has chosen to stay with the Club for an extended term, said Price.

Everyone has a high opinion of him here with the way he conducts himself both on and off the field and he is an exciting part of what is being built here at the Club.

Dragons CEO Peter Doust was similar in his appraisal of the representative player.

Tyson is an exciting player and we are very pleased that he has agreed to remain at the Club for the next four years, said Doust.

Tyson is a proud local junior and another example for young players across our region to look up to with aspirations of one day playing NRL for the Dragons."
