The Brighton Seagulls’ Scarborough Park will play host to the NSWRL Southern Corridor Development Gala Day exhibiting a collection of under-13s to under-16s development teams from the St George, Illawarra, and South Coast Group 7 regions on Saturday, September 23rd.

The event will also include members from the NSW RISE Academy Illawarra South Coast program.

The games kick off at 10:00am and will run through until 4:30pm with entry being free for all spectators.

Now in its second iteration following a successful event held in Warilla a year ago, young male and female players will take part in multiple matches played over a pair of fields.

NSWRL League & Club Support Coordinator Joshua Elias is excited to build off the success of last year’s event and continue to offer budding players from these regions the opportunity to showcase their skillsets.

“It’s a great day to showcase the talent of so many young boys and girls within our area that get to prepare for Lisa Fiaola and the Harold Matthews competition next year, so it’s a good first step to probably what rep footy is like for them,” Elias said.

“It’s grown again this year. We’ve got every district bringing in a female and male team… It’s continuous growth, which is what we want to see.

“There’s going to be a large amount of clubs from every district. We’re expecting just over 20 games on the day, so it’s heaps of growth for the game both in the men’s and women’s space which is great to see... We’ve done a great job for our area seeing the women’s game grow.”

The NSWRL Southern Corridor Gala Day presents a great opportunity for up-and-coming players to come together and showcase the emerging talent from across the regions.
