St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team five-eighth Drew Hutchison is keen to play his part against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park on Sunday.
The local Albion Park Oak Flats Eagles junior made his first appearance for the Young Dragons last round which coincided with the team’s first win of the season.
Hutchison, who trains with both the first-grade squad and with the Illawarra Cutters, admits it was good to be amongst familiar faces and hopes his experience can help build further positive momentum on the park.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my first hit-out with the boys as it was refreshing being able to take everything I’ve learnt this year with the first-grade squad and applying it in our previous game,” said Hutchison.
“We knew it was important to get our kicking game correct heading into the match against the Knights and that will be no different against the Bulldogs this weekend.
“It’s good being able to train with such a diverse group of talent both in the first-grade squad, NSW Cup squad and with the Under 20’s but regardless of where I am, I know it’s about doing your best for your teammates.
“The team have not had the best start to the season but having had our first win it’s all about now trying to build on that and start pegging our way back to the top-half of the table.”
