Community & High Performance Centre officially named The Bruce Gordon Centre

The Dragons are proud to announce that the club’s under-construction Community & High Performance Centre will be officially named The Bruce Gordon Centre.

Inducted as a Dragons Life Member in 2024, Bruce Gordon is a distinguished media pioneer, businessman and passionate rugby league supporter whose enduring commitment has been instrumental in the club’s stability and success.

As a major shareholder, Bruce Gordon’s vision and strategic influence have guided the club’s growth over several decades.

His long-term investment and media expertise have helped secure vital sponsorships and partnerships, strengthened the club’s commercial position, and significantly elevated the Dragons’ profile within the Australian sporting landscape.

Set to open in 2026, The Bruce Gordon Centre will be an industry-leading, high-performance training and administration facility located at the University of Wollongong’s (UOW) Innovation Campus.

The centre will bring together all aspects of the club’s operations—elite pathways, community programs, and administration—under one roof, enabling collaboration and innovation across all levels of the organisation.

Upon completion, the facility will deliver world-class high-performance, administration, and community spaces, while also deepening the Dragons’ partnership with UOW through education, research, and innovation initiatives.

Andrew Lancaster, Dragons Chair said, “It is a privilege for the Dragons to be able to recognise Bruce for the support he has given the Dragons, Rugby League and the Illawarra Region more broadly over the past five decades. Bruce’s passion for rugby league and his commitment to the Dragons’ regions has been unwavering. The Bruce Gordon Centre will stand as recognition of his belief in the power of sport to unite communities and inspire future generations. I am sure the Gordon family is extremely proud of this recognition.”

“Officially naming our new facility here at UOW’s Innovation Campus is a key moment for the club,” Dragons CEO Tim Watsford said.

“We are excited to be able to honour Dragons Life Member Bruce Gordon and celebrate what he’s done for the club by attaching his name to our state-of-the-art Community & High Performance Centre. It’s hard to overstate just how beneficial our new facility will be in helping us achieve sustained, club-wide success. We look forward to moving into the building in 2026 and bringing the club together under one roof.”

Bruce Gordon said he was humbled by the recognition. “I am deeply honoured to have the Dragons’ new centre carry my name,” Mr Gordon said.

“This club has been a big part of my life for many years, and I am proud to have supported its journey. I thank the Dragons for this recognition and look forward to seeing The Bruce Gordon Centre become a home for excellence, pride and community for generations to come.”
