St George Leagues Club helps revamp Legends Walk at Jubilee

Jubilee Stadium’s Legends Walk was revamped this week with the help of St George Leagues Club.

The Leagues Club funded the initiative in which the original pillars – which had been damaged by the weather – were replaced by sturdier, metal prints.

The Legends Walk, which was officially opened by 10-time premiership-winner and Immortal Norm Provan on March 6, 2004, serves to recognise the contributions and success of a collection of Red V greats from over the years.

The most recent inductees to the Legends Walk were Harry Bath, Mark Gasnier, Doug McRitchie and Neville Smith who were unveiled in August 2022.

They joined Ben Creagh, Ben Hornby, Jason Nightingale, St George’s inaugural 1921 team, Brian Clay, Mark Coyne, Reg Gasnier, Ken Kearney, Johnny King, Graeme Langlands, Eddie Lumsden, Matt McCoy, Noel Pidding, Norm Provan, John Raper, Rod Reddy, Kevin Ryan, Billy Smith, Robert Stone, Ian Walsh, Billy Wilson and Craig Young.

“To be part of the Legends Walk is already an honour, but seeing it revitalised like this – and knowing future generations will walk past it on game day – means a great deal,” St George District Rugby League Chairman Craig Young said.

“It’s a tribute to everyone who’s helped shape the club’s legacy.”

St George Leagues Club CEO Craig Epton added: “We’re proud to support initiatives that connect past, present, and future. The revamped Legends Walk is a symbol of our shared history and enduring pride in the Red V.”

Fans will get the opportunity to check out the revamped Legends Walk when the squad takes on the Knights at Jubilee Stadium this Friday night.
