The young Dragons will be hoping history doesn't repeat itself when they come up against the Penrith Panthers at Allianz Stadium this Saturday afternoon.

13 players named in coach Wayne Collins's squad for the upcoming qualifying final have already had a taste of playing the Panthers in finals football.

The 2016 SG Ball Grand Final saw the Panthers beat Illawarra 25-10, a team that included the likes of Matheson Johns, Jason Gillard, Tristan Sailor and Jackson Ford.

While the Dragons have beaten the Panthers in both of their 2017 meetings, it will account for nothing in the NYC finals series. Especially since Illawarra beat Penrith in both of their earlier SG Ball encounters last year too.
