The young Dragons have gone down to the Gold Coast Titans 26-24 in a close encounter at Cbus Super Stadium, Robina on Friday night.

Despite a second half fight-back and a double to centre Zac Lomax, the Titans held on, snapping the Dragons four game winning streak.

It didn’t take Lomax long to assert his presence on the game, crossing in the seventh minute, before converting his own try for an early 6-0 lead.

The Titans hit back shortly after though, with tries to Alexander Brimson and Jake Sparey in the space of four minutes putting the home side up 10-6 halfway through the first half.

Gold Coast continued to pile on the points, with Brimson grabbing his second, before back-rower Apiata Noema crossed for a 20-6 lead heading into half-time.

The Dragons came out firing in the second stanza, with converted tries to Tom Angel and Zac Lomax in the opening 15 minutes pegging the margin back to two points.

Just when it felt like the visitors were getting on top, the Titans scored through Daniel Brownbill, converted by Tyrone Roberts-Davis for a 26-18 lead.

Jackson Willis snuck over with 12 minutes to go, but a strong defensive stand by the Titans saw the Gold Coast run out two point winners.

Gold Coast Titans 26 (Alexander Brimson 2, Jake Sparey, Apiata Noema, Daniel Brownbill tries; Tyrone Roberts-Davis 3 goals) defeated St George Illawarra Dragons 24 (Zac Lomax 2, Tom Angel, Jackson Willis; Zac Lomax 4 goals) at Cbus Super Stadium, Robina. Half-time: Titans 20-6
