The St George Illawarra Dragons will be holding invitation-only trials for their respective Illawarra Steelers Harold Matthews Cup (U16) and SG Ball Cup (U18) squads at Ron Costello Oval, Shellharbour on Saturday.

These trials are a great opportunity for the best local talent from the Illawarra, Group 7 and the Club’s externally scouted areas to make their mark in Junior Representative football to showcase their talents in front of Steelers Selectors.

The Steelers Harold Matthews Cup trial will take place at 9.00am which will be followed by the SG Ball Cup trial at 10.30am.

The trials conducted are to maximise the time each player gets to impress the selectors in their own preferred playing position.

From these trials the Steelers are aiming to have approximately 30 players selected into the train-on squads for both the Harold Matthews Cup and SG Ball Cup teams.

This is a very exciting time for the Steelers as they seek to improve on last season’s results which saw their SG Ball team reach the Grand Final.

Several members from this team have since been elevated to the St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team.
