St George Illawarra Dragons centre hopeful Charly Runciman is eager to be training in his second pre-season with the Red V after debuting mid-season in 2013.

The Junior Kangaroos Representative is aware of the competition surrounding the centre position with Kyle Stanley, Dylan Farrell and Gerard Beale all vying for the same role.

The 20-year-old is reminiscent of past times with senior players but understands 2014 marks a new era with fresh faces for the Red-and-Whites.

Im looking forward to be getting back into all the hard work again over the next few weeks before Christmas, said Runciman.

Its probably something I need getting another full preseason under my belt and I really think itll help my footy.

My goal this year is to nail down that centres spot but it will take a lot of hard work as there are a few new boys here who can play that position.

Theres a lot of competition and I just have to put my name forward.

I always look forward to running out with the old boys each year but theres not many left around anymore.
