NSW Women’s Premiership Report: Round 3

The St George Dragons and Illawarra Steelers competed in Round 3 of the 2026 NSW Women’s Premiership season over the weekend.

ST GEORGE DRAGONS

The Dragons fell to the Panthers 24-8 at St George Venues Jubilee Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers scored early with Natalia Webb crashing over in the 14th minute but the Dragons wasted no time levelling the scores courtesy of Dayna Stevens who managed to get the ball to the turf in the 20th minute.

A Penrith try early in the second half through Jae Patu brought the score to 12-4 the way of visitors.

The Panthers scored two tries in quick succession shortly after through Tiarna West and Aaliyah Boland bringing the score out to 24-4.

The Dragons weren't done however with Izabel Williams scoring a try an hour in cutting the deficit back to 24-8.

Unfortunately for the Red V, their comeback attempt fell short with the Panthers holding on for a key, early season win.

ILLAWARRA STEELERS

The Illawarra Steelers took down the Cronulla Sharks 26-18 at Collegians Sporting Complex on Saturday to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

The Sharks managed the contest's opening points in the 13th minute with Georgia Willey crossing.

The points started flowing for the Steelers soon after with both Montaya Hudson and Rhian Yeo managing tries in the late stages of the first half seeing the hosts take a 14-4 edge into the half.

The Sharks were first to score after the break with Julliana Kolio crashing over in the 42nd minute.

The Steelers weren’t far behind however with Seriah Palepale snagging one in the 48th minute and Tyra Ekepati securing another for the home side 55 minutes in.

Cronulla bagged the final two tries of the clash with Mele Ketuu scoring in the 59th and Georgia Willey securing her second in the 64th minute.

The day belonged to the Steelers with Courtney Crawford's squad holding on for another 26-18 win to stay on top of the table.
