The St George Illawarra Dragons can confirm that the club has granted Zali Hopkins a release from the final year of her contract to pursue a long-term opportunity elsewhere.
Hopkins has spent five seasons with the club, making her NRLW debut in Round 4, 2022 and playing a role in the side’s charge towards the postseason that same season.
The 24-year-old was named one of the club’s co-captains ahead of the 2025 season and went on to play in all 11 matches.
“Zali has been a major part of our club for many years, and we’re grateful for the impact she has had,” Director of Female Football Sammy Bremner said.
“Another opportunity has arisen for Zali, and we felt it was right to support her in pursuing it. She has been a highly respected teammate and leader for our club. We thank Zali for her contributions to the Red V and wish her the very best as she moves into her next chapter.”
