Dragons youngsters chosen for Under 19s Origin

The Dragons would like to congratulate 11 of the club’s rising stars on their selection for Under 19s State of Origin.

The men’s and women’s clashes will both be played at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Thursday, 19 June with the Blues looking to replicate last year’s double.

Hayden Buchanan and Jacob Halangahu both earn opportunities for the second-straight year having helped lead the Blues to victory in 2024 whilst Cyrus Stanley-Traill gets a chance for the first time.

Buchanan and Halangahu both sat out the SG Ball season this year and have developed into regular members of the club’s Knock-On Effect NSW Cup squad.

Stanley-Traill, a Hurstville United junior who this preseason earnt his first opportunity to train with the club’s NRL squad, took home St George’s SG Ball Player of the Year Award earlier this year and made his Knock-On Effect NSW Cup debut in Round 10.

Eight members of Illawarra’s Tarsha Gale Cup squad have earnt selection for the Blues including Indie Bostock, Liesl Hopoate, Tahlia O’Brien, Maria Paseka, Siu Richter, Tori Shipton, Bronte Wilson and last year’s skipper and Player of the Match Kasey Reh.

Reh, Wilson, and Paseka made their NRLW debuts last season whilst Bostock moves into the club’s top squad for 2025.

Reh, Wilson, and Bostock were also members of NSW’s Under 19s State of Origin squad a year ago with all three notching tries in a 46-4 victory in Sydney.

Courtney Crawford, Illawarra’s Tarsha Gale Cup head coach, will also be at the helm of the women’s side.
