Fans attending events at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sundays will enjoy cheaper prices on hero food and beverage items for less than $5 for the remainder of 2019, thanks to a commitment to 'Family Friendly Sundays' by the Sydney Cricket & Sports Grounds, Delaware North caterers and the teams who call the SCG home.
SCG Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Mather said the decision to subsidise food and beverage costs was another customer service initiative to drive attendance at the SCG.
Together with recent initiatives such as WaitTime, SCG technology upgrade, family ticket deals and the new SCG app, the reduction in food and beverage costs, with many items less than $5, will be a welcome addition for sports fans.
"Sundays are traditionally a day when families get together and go to the footy, so by reducing our food and beverage prices, we hope that many more families will be able to cheer on their heroes and pack the stands at the SCG," Ms Mather said.
"We have partnered with our caterers, Delaware North, as well as the Sydney Swans, Sydney Roosters and St George Illawarra Dragons to deliver savings across a range of traditional footy fare – starting with this weekend’s AFL blockbuster when the Swans take on reigning premiers the West Coast Eagles."
The price reductions include $4.90 for hot chips, hotdogs and meat pies, and $4.30 for Mt Franklin Water.
Delaware North’s SCG general manager, Stuart Ford said: "We've significantly reduced the prices of some of our most popular offerings to specifically target families who choose the SCG as an entertainment option."
The commitment to 'Family Friendly Sundays' is warmly welcomed by the SCG's sports partners.
“The timing of this announcement couldn’t be better as our next home game is this Sunday against West Coast, so Sydney Swans fans can make the most of these offers from this weekend," Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley said.
"Watching the Sydney Swans play at the SCG is an activity that brings families together and thanks to this initiative, along with free entry for kids to Swans games on Sundays, it will now be more affordable.

The revised pricing will be implemented as of Sunday, June 9 and will be rolled out across all football events scheduled on Sundays for the remainder of 2019.
