St George Illawarra veteran Jason Nightingale has been named to play for New Zealand in week two of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

Joined by Russell Packer on the interchange, Nightingale has been included to face Scotland in Christchurch on Saturday night.

In further good news, Australian representative Tyson Frizell has been named in the back row to play France in the nation's capital. Departing Dragon Josh Dugan has retained his spot in the centres.

Leeson Ah Mau and Tim Lafai have retained their spots for Samoa's clash against Siliva Havili's Tonga which is set for Hamilton, New Zealand.

2018 recruit James Graham and Dragons skipper Gareth Widdop will play Lebanon in Sydney, while Nene Macdonald will feature for Papua New Guinea against Ireland in Port Moresby.

Townsville will also see a double-header on Sunday afternoon that will feature Italy's Paul Vaughan (v United States of America) and Fijian duo Taane Milne and Joe Lovodua (v Wales).
