St George Illawarra Head of Athletic Performance Nathan Pickworth has provided the following update in regards to Dragons back-rower Tyson Frizell and fullback Josh Dugan, who both left the field with injury during the Round 17 clash against the Gold Coast Titans on Friday, June 30.

“Tyson came from the field on Friday night with a rib injury which occurred upon impact with the ground,” said Pickworth.

“He had a scan over the weekend and it has revealed a new rib cartilage injury,” said Pickworth. “We advised the NSW Blues Medical Staff of the results with indications on Tyson’s playing and training capacity for Origin III and the importance of Tyson’s welfare in their training and playing plans throughout this camp”.

“Josh suffered a right quad cork in the game, it has settled down well and does not require any follow-up investigation”.

Both Dugan and Frizell have been named in the Blues team for Origin III and the Club has asked the NSWRL to ensure that it is kept up to date with the training and medical decisions regarding Tyson on a daily basis.
