St George Illawarra back-rower Joel Thompson has taken the early guilty plea on a grade one tripping charge following the Dragons' 16-12 win over Wests Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

Thompson was placed on report by match officials on the stroke of half-time after his back leg caught Tigers fullback James Tedesco.

The early guilty plea means Thompson will be charged with a $1550 fine by the NRL Match Review Committee, and won't miss any football.
