St George Illawarra Dragons centre Taane Milne is hoping to get the opportunity to link-up with teammate Nene Macdonald at some stage during 2017.

The Clovelly Crocodiles junior as well as the Red-and-Whites new recruit are familiar with each other having both played together at junior level during their tenure together at the Sydney Roosters.

Milne was a late addition to the first phase of pre-season training having been afforded an extra week’s rest due to his involvement with the Illawarra Cutters in their NSW Cup Finals campaign last term.

“I started this pre-season later due to my involvement with the Cutters and did return a bit unfit but I’ve quickly caught up to where I need to be,” said Macdonald.

“The pre-season has been tough and it’s personally been the hardest one that I’ve been involved in so far but the boys have all been ripping in which has been good to see.

“I’ve known Nene for a few years having played SG Ball and in the NYC with him during our time together at the Roosters.

“Hopefully we can get a little combination going now that we’re both here if given the chance.

“We know though that nothing is given and that an opportunity like that to play together needs to be earned which is what we’re doing.”
