Illawarra Cutters hooker Sam Coster is still coming to terms with the 54-12 victory over the Burleigh Bears in the NRL State Championship at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park on Sunday.
The former St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team graduate admits he was not expecting the scoreline notched on the day which saw nine of his teammates scribe their names onto the scoresheet.
Coster was one of only two players within the squad to feature in every fixture for the Cutters this season and notes that the win is a great accomplishment for a hard and slogging year-long campaign.
“It’s amongst the best feelings in the world to come together as a group back in November and come through all the way to the end is unbelievable,” said Coster.
“To win in the fashion we did by putting fifty plus points on a good side is unexplainable.
“The Bears were the best team in their competition for a reason and we had done a lot of video on them in the week’s build-up but no way did we expect to come out there and play the way we played.
“Everyone was on song and keen to play, especially blokes like Hutchison and Nona, and we all played off the back of them.”
