The St George Illawarra Dragons completed trials for their respective St George Dragons Junior Representative teams at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah on Saturday.

A contingent of hopeful players attended the tryouts to secure a place in either the Dragons Harold Matthews Cup (U16) or SG Ball Cup (U18) teams under the watchful eye of Club officials.

Four Harold Matthews Cup and four SG Ball Cup teams were given an uninterrupted period of time showcase their talents, and the commitment and energy shown by all trialists was very impressive.

Dragons SG Ball Cup (U18) Coach Patrick Gibson and Harold Matthews Cup (U16) Coach Brendan Perenara were joined by District Coordinator Graeme Wynn and both Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward and Dragons Recruitment Manager Dave Warwick for the games.

"All our respective Junior Representative and Dragons coaching staff were impressed with these trials,” said Warwick.

“The standard of play seemed to be a little up on recent years and it showed through the performances of each player who gave it their all.

“It's a really promising start to the 2017 Junior Representative year.”

All trialists will be notified within a fortnight of their success, or otherwise, for inclusion in their respective train-on squad.
