The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced the re-signing of several members from their Illawarra Steelers SG Ball Grand Final squad to new contracts.

Steelers' fullback Steve Marsters has been signed for a further three seasons, until at least the end of 2019.

The Mount Wellington Warriors' junior was recently part of the NZRL U18 Taurahere Camp and has previously represented NZ Maoris at both U16 and U18 level.

Furthermore, Steelers trio Hayden Lomax, Trent Peoples and Jackson Willis have all agreed to a further two seasons, until at least the end of 2018.

Lomax, who can play in the front-row and was the captain of the team, was awarded the 2016 Illawarra Steelers SG Ball Cup Player of the Year and has since been elevated to the Dragons' National Youth Competition squad.

Peoples is a Campbelltown Collegians' junior who can play in the second-row and was, alongside Lomax, identified to be part of the NSW Blues' Pathways Program, held earlier this season.

Furthermore, Willis is a Camden Rams' junior who can play in the halves and was most recently named in the NSW Blues' U18 extended train-on squad.

“It is very pleasing to see these three members of the outstanding Illawarra Steelers' SG Ball Grand Final team all opt to continue their footballing development with the Club,” said Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward.

“All four players were highly sought after and have already been involved in various representative squads for their age-level.

“Each player has displayed a keen desire to continue their learning and we all look forward to seeing their development continue in the seasons to come.”
