St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team winger Paora Kemp has praised the team’s defensive capabilities ahead of the fixture against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park on Thursday.

The Red-and-Whites have recorded comprehensive victories over both the New Zealand Warriors (Round 9) and Canberra Raiders (Round 10) in recent week whilst only succumbing to allowing in six points.

Kemp believes that this is the result of the instilled discipline enforced by Head Coach Mat Head and hopes it is on show again against their upcoming opposition.

“It was great to be able to bag a double and it came off the back of some hard work from the other boys as all I have to do is jump in the air and put the ball down over the try line,” said Kemp.

“I thought we didn’t get off to the best of starts as we dropped-off a bit from the performance against the Warriors but we got back to where we should have been during that second-half.

“The Coach is very adamant about making sure we have a strong defence and that means getting ready to defend our line whenever it’s in under threat.

“He also makes sure our tackling is on point and that our overall defence is correct.

“We hope to continue that coming up against the Rabbitohs this round and making sure we take nothing for granted.”
