Illawarra Cutters Head Coach Jason Demetriou admits his team needs to focus on themselves ahead of the fixture against the Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium, Newcastle on Sunday.

The Knights are presently decimated by both injuries and an unstable roster due to players being promoted into to the first-grade squad which has equated to only one win from the opening nine rounds.

The Cutters themselves will be looking to bounce back after being dominated by the Manly-Warringah Sea Ealges last round with Demetriou himself asking the players to concentrate on improving their game and not the plight of the present Premiers.

“We’ve just got to worry about ourselves,” said Demetriou.

“We were really poor against the Sea Eagles the other week, and we’re still hurting from it so this game is about us.

“We we need to focus on our own game this weekend as well as going forward as we turned into a team of individuals last round.

"I hope as a coach never to see that again so this game will be about putting a few things right."
