St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team Head Coach Mat Head is expecting a better defensive display against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park on Monday.
The Young Dragons are keen to bounce back and secure two vital competition points against their upcoming opponents having suffered a 39-32 loss to the Gold Coast Titans last round.
Head notes that the team have worked on their defensive plays and overall discipline thus far in training as well as taking the opportunity to reflect on the importance of being able to compete on ANZAC Day.
“We hope to be able to put in a bit of a better performance and hopefully supporters will see a much better defensive team against the Roosters,” said Head.
“It was a high-scoring game against the Titans last round but unfortunately the result didn’t go our way in the end despite the attacking effort.
"ANZAC Day is an exciting day and there are a lot of proud people across both Australia and New Zealand who hold it close to them.
“All the players get up for it from the first-graders down to the NYC team as it is special to everyone.
“I will be showing the players videos of what this game means to the Club and I know they are feeling both proud and privileged to be involved.”
