The St George Illawarra Dragons will defend the ANZAC Day Cup against the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park on Monday.

The Dragons will be wearing a special jersey which will feature the Red V emblazoned with red poppies to commemorate the occasion.

The significance of the poppy is as a lasting memorial symbol to the fallen, it was amongst the first plants to spring up in the devastated battlefields of northern France and Belgium during the First World War.

Dragons Head Coach Paul McGregor has named a 17-man team for the traditional fixture which utility Josh McCrone named as halfback and prop Mike Cooper elevated to the starting forward-pack.

Furthermore, Euan Aitken has been named in centres as he continues his recovery from a minor hamstring strain sustained against the Gold Coast Titans last round.
