St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition prop Matt Jurd believes the team will dig deep against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Thursday.

The Young Dragons enter the encounter having suffered a 38-18 loss to the North Queensland Cowboys last round and will compete in their second fixture north of the state border in five days.

Jurd has been a regular fixture of the forward-pack this season and has switched in between serving as starting prop and being an interchange player.

“The recent results are not ideal for us and not a reflection of the hard work being put in by the team,” said Jurd.

“We know we need to be at our best to compete come game day and I will be doing just that wherever I am named.

“This will be our second game in five days which is something a lot of the boys are not used to but I know they will be up for it once that whistle is blown.”
