The St George Illawarra Dragons will have two of their Junior Representative teams vying for Finals Series berths on Saturday.
The St George Dragons Harold Matthews Cup (U16) and SG Ball (U18) teams will host the Penrith Panthers at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah.
The Dragons Harold Matthews Cup team are presently in ninth position and will need a win and other results to go their way if they are to qualify.
“We need to look after our own game, just worry about doing all the things we need to win, not be concerned about other matches being played this weekend,” said Coach Graeme Wynn.
“We’ve improved a great deal through the season and I’m confident the boys can get the job done against Penrith if we continue to tackle hard, work for each other, and control the footy.
The Dragons SG Ball team unfortunately cannot qualify for a top-eight spot but will be looking to finish their season on a positive note.
"We need to be prepared to put our bodies on the line and dig deep in defence for each other,” said Coach Brad Liggins.
“We also want to do the Dragons jersey proud in the final game of the year.”
The Illawarra Steelers Dragons Harold Matthews Cup (U16) and SG Ball (U18) teams will travel to face the Balmain Tigers at Leichhardt Oval.
The Steelers Harold Matthews Cup team will be looking to improve their 12th place ranking and also finish their campaign with a win.
Additionally, the Steelers SG Ball team will look to cement their current first place ranking on the competition table ahead of the Final Series.
“We’re expecting a much improved performance from last week” said Coach Shane Millard.
“The intensity of the match against the Tigers is what we are going to see moving forward into the Semi-Finals.
“This week we’ll be looking to get back to what works for us.”
