Illawarra Cutters hooker Sam Coster does not see the injury toll suffered by his team as an excuse for the 5-16 loss to the Mt Pritchard Mounties at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Saturday.

The Cutters suffered their second loss of the season in a game which saw both prop Sebastiane Ikahihifo go off with an ankle injury after just three minutes.

Furthermore, the Cutters were dealt a double injury blow, losing both Blake Wallace (concussion) and Kurt Mann (leg) ten minutes later, for the remainder of the game.

The Cutters would also go on to lose second rower Chris Lewis late in the game to a thumb injury.

Coster is also of the opinion that the injuries his side suffered can not be used as an excuse for their lacklustre performance.

“I think the Mounties just outclassed us through the middle,” said Coster.

“We can’t use injuries as an excuse as you train all pre-season to get fit for situations like
this, so we’re not going to put it down to injuries.

“It’s just a case of coming out with the right attitude, and not matter what the situation is, you’ve just gotta break through it and come out the other end.

“We need to have a solid week at training, making sure we work on the things we got wrong out there as well as working on our attitude.”
