The St George Illawarra Dragons Junior Representative squads had limited representation in their respective campaigns on Saturday.
The Illawarra Steelers Harold Matthews Cup (U16) and SG Ball (U18) teams both kept their respective unbeaten records in tact with wins over the Central Coast Centurions at WIN Stadium, Wollongong.
The Steelers Harold Matthews Cup team recorded a 22-6 victory over the Centurions in a match that never reached any great heights.
Back-rower Sione Lufe played well for the Steelers, and was ably supported by young five-eighth Sam Hooper and lock Shalom O’Ofou.
“I was disappointed with the number of errors we made, and our inability to stick to our simple game plan”, said Coach Adam Blake.
"Having said that, I was still relieved to gain the valuable two competition points.
“We’ve now posted two wins and a draw from three games played, so I’m happy from that point of view but we’ll need to improve 100% for the Penrith match next week if we’re to be competitive.
The Steelers SB Ball team notched a 34-16 win over the Centurions after an error riddled first-half.
Centre Zac Lomax and second-rowers Thomas Harris and Josh Uta were the pick of the Steelers players on the day.
“We completed at 50% in the first half, and trailed 10-12 on the scoreboard as a result” said Coach Shane Millard.
“We improved to 80% completions in the second half, scoring five tries in the process and that therein lies a valuable lesson."
The St George Dragons Harold Matthews Cup and SG Ball teams were both not in action having been provided with a Bye Round.
