The St George Illawarra Dragons Junior Representative teams will commence their respective campaigns on Saturday.
The St George Dragons respective Harold Matthews Cup (U16) and SG Ball (U18) teams will travel to face the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground in search of points.
Both sides will be eager to play some competition football after some positive signs in pre-season trials and training performance.
The traditionally strong Bulldogs Juniors have been identified as one of the sides to watch in 2016, so it will be a tough game for visitors.
“The hard work put in by the players and coaching staff will be on show this weekend” said Harold Matthews Cup Coach Graeme Wynn.
"I want the side to work on their line speed in defence. If we can get that right we will have a good chance of victory.”
The St George Dragons Harold Matthews Cup team are scheduled for 10.00am before the SG Ball team play at 11.30am.
The Illawarra Steelers respective Harold Matthews Cup (U16) and SG Ball (U18) teams will kick-start their campaign hosting the North Sydney Bears at WIN Stadium, Wollongong.
The Steelers enter the match on the back of their previous successes against their upcoming opposition during their trial rounds.
“We know we will be up against a different team to the one we played in the trials,” said SG Ball Coach Shane Millard.
“They’ll be bigger and tougher and we really need to work hard to get some results.
“We’re hoping to start the season with a bang, we’ve got a strong side and I think that is going to show on the field.”
The Illawarra Steelers Harold Matthews Cup team are scheduled for 10.00am before the SG Ball team play at 11.30am.
