The New Zealand international is in the midst of his first pre-season with the Red-and-Whites having previously been registered to play with the Illawarra Cutters in the NSW Cup last season.

During his tenure there he finished the campaign both the team’s captain as well as 'Player of the Year'.

He has most recently completed a Certificate IV in Community Services at TAFE Illawarra and has since commenced a Bachelor of Business at the University of Wollongong.

“It’s very humbling and exciting to be back out there after a long journey and it being so close to the new season,” said Packer.

“I wouldn’t recommend the journey to anyone else but I certainly learnt a lot of things along the way and I’m definitely now looking forward to the future after what myself, the family and the Club have been through to get to this point.

“I can’t wait now to put on the boots and play against the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls representing the Dragons up in Brisbane.”
