The St George Illawarra Dragons Junior Representative squad will continue their preparations with respective trial fixtures on Saturday.

The St George Dragons SG Ball (U18) and Harold Matthews Cup (U16) will host the Sydney Roosters at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah.

"Combinations are still coming along and we are working really hard on our line speed in defence as well as preparing ourselves mentally for the season ahead," said Dragons Harold Matthews Coach Graeme Wynn.

This will be the third pre-season fixture for the Dragons ahead of the new Junior Representative competition.

"Our main focus early in the season will be our attitude in defence, to see how hard we are willing to work",” said SG Ball Coach Brad Liggins.

"We will also be looking at our combinations on the field and seeing how they all come together as well.”

The Dragons Harold Matthews Cup team compete at 9.00am followed by the Dragons SG Ball at 10.30am.

The Illawarra Steelers SG Ball (U18) and Harold Matthews Cup (U16) will travel to compete against the North Sydney Bears at TG Milner Field, Marsfield.

“We’ve seen a lot of improvement in the players’ fitness and communication these past few weeks and this trial will really be about picking that best team for the season ahead,” said Steelers Harold Matthews Coach Adam Blake.

This will also be the third pre-season fixture for the Steelers ahead of the new Junior Representative competition.

“We’re aiming for a big improvement on our last trials against Canberra,” said Steelers SG Ball Coach Shane Millard.

“We’re in good shape and as long as there’s continued improvement the scores will look after themselves.”

The Steelers Harold Matthews Cup team compete at 9.00am followed by the Dragons SG Ball at 10.30am.
