The Illawarra Cutters proudly attended the NSWRL Semi-Pro day on Saturday.

The purpose of the day is to recognise, educate, and celebrate the players of the NSW Cup competition by assisting in both personal and professional development.

The day provided tools to help players cope and grow with certain situations which arise in life.

The program consisted of two major presentations, including a visit from NSW Blues Coach Laurie Daley.

The first major presentation was conducted by Hugh Van Gulenburg from the Resilience Project.

Van Gulenburg presentation emphasised the value of gratitude, empathy and mindfulness, while sharing a personal journey he and his family went through with his sister. as well as a personal journey he took while in India on a cricket tour.

Van Gulenburg presentation was followed by Theatre Sports, which places players and staff members in specifically designed scenes with professional actors, aimed at studying how they react when put in somewhat compromising positions.

This is an interactive way of making the Rugby League Community aware of the potentially dangerous situations that they can come across, and how to handle them appropriately.

The final presentation was by NSW Blues Coach Laurie Daley, who spoke about what he does as a coach to get the best out of his players both personally and as professional athletes.
