St George Illawarra Dragons second-rower Joel Thompson will undergo scans on a suspected minor hamstring strain on Monday.

The NSW Country Origin representative suffered the ailment during the 28-26 loss to the Gold Coast Titans at Cbus Super Stadium, Robina on Sunday.

Thompson suffered a similar injury during the final training session in the build-up to the previous fixture against the Penrith Panthers at WIN Stadium, Wollongong in Round 24.

The player was ultimately omitted from taking part in the home fixture as a result and Dragons Medical Staff believe this most recent injury on this occasion is a reoccurrence of the previous one.

“Joel will need to get some scans before we can determine the full extent of the injury,” said Dragons High Performance Manager Mark Andrews.

“At this stage it seems to be the same injury and early indications show that it does not appear to be too bad but we will need to wait and see.”
