Wollongong-raised Rod Wishart – a Illawarra Steelers, St George Illawarra Dragons, NSW Blues and Australian rugby league legend – was a winger ahead of his time.

Strong as an ox, tough as nails and one who charged at the defensive line like a wounded bull, Wishart finished as one of the best finishers of the 1990s – and arguably one of the finest in rugby league history.

A documentary on Wishart’s career, as well as his off-field activities and foray into the movie industry, now features on the NSWRL’s website.

A sharp-shooting goal-kicker, Wishart retired as one of the NSW Blues’ best (22 Origin matches), a Kangaroos veteran (22 Tests for Australia) and likely one of the greatest Steelers of all time (154 matches; 1044 points for the club; record-holder across points in a match, points in a season, tries for the Club and more).
