St George Illawarra Dragons Head Coach Paul McGregor has indicated halfback Benji Marshall is “highly unlikely” to play against the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Friday.

Marshall was forced to leave the field with a minor hamstring strain during the 17th minute of the 36-0 win over the New Zealand Warriors at Westpac Stadium, Wellington last round due to against the New Zealand Warriors in Wellington last weekend.

McGregor notes that the halfback has remained in Brisbane with the team this week for treatment but remained coy when asked if he had decided upon any potential replacement for the playmaker.

“Marshall is very unlikely to play, that is the total truth,” said McGregor.

“He will come to training today and have a light jog but a week is a really short turn around for a hamstring strain, especially when you leave the field with one.

“I have an idea on a replacement but that won’t be on show until before kick-off.”
