St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team prop Matthew Jurd is expecting a tough encounter against the New Zealand Warriors at Westpac Stadium, Wellington on Saturday.

The Young Dragons enter the away fixture on foreign soil having notched an impressive 48-18 win over the Newcastle Knights at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah last round.

The local Albion Park Oak Flats junior believes his teammates need to carry this newly-built momentum into the game against their trans-Tasman opposition if they are to secure a further two competition points but does not underestimate the task at hand.

"Our defence really stood-out against the Knights last round and we managed to play the ball down as well as stand together when they applied the pressure," said Jurd.

"Having said that, our attack was really on strike and we managed to make a lot of metres which put us in good positions on several occassions to score down their half of the field.

"The win will hopefully set us up against the Warriors who are always a difficult team, especially when they are at home.

"We have a bit of travelling to do for the match but we have managed to factor that into our training schedule accordingly.

"We just need to continue playing to the best of our ability and back ourselves on the field when that whistle for kick-off blows."
