St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team centre Izaac Thompson admits the team needs to refocus ahead of the fixture against the Newcastle Knights at Jubilee Oval, Kogarah on Sunday.

The Young Dragons recent winning-streak came to an end when they were defeated by the Melbourne Storm last round in a fixture which saw the local Kingsgrove Colts junior notch a double's worth of tries.

Thompson is confident that the set-back is only temporary and has backed the team to bouce-back if they are to make a last ditch attempt to reach to Finals.

"It was good to be able to help out the team with two tries but unfortunately it was not enough to get the two-points against the Storm," said Thompson.

"We trained well for the game but were forced to overcome an early set-back when our halfback Rhys Davies was knocked-out.

"The good thing though is that he is alright and recovering well and we are focused on the task ahead against the Knights.

"The team is well aware of what each player is capable of and we need to demonstrate that this weekend if we are to return to the winner's circle."
