St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition prop Blake Lawrie is confident the team can build on recent foundations when they face the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Allianz Stadium, Moore Park on Saturday.

The Young Dragons claimed local bragging rights following their 26-18 win over the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks last round in a fixture which saw Lawrie score his first try of the season.

The Wests Devils junior, who recently represented the NSW Blues U18, believes that the team can build off this performance and cannot wait to take to the field against the Rabbitohs.

"It was a really good win by all of the boys against the Sharks," said Lawrie.

"For me getting that try was awesome but more importantly it helped get the team the two points that we deserved for our efforts.

"We will need to continue training hard though if we are to continue any momentum from that game but I know we have it in us.

"The Rabbitohs are our next opponents and we will need to be on our game against them when the whistle blows."
