St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition team halfback Drew Hutchison is honoured to have been selected as part of the NSW Blues U20 State of Origin squad to face the Queensland Maroons at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Wednesday.

The Albion Park Oats Flags Eagles junior, alongside teammate Hame Sele, is hoping to build off his Origin campaign last year and become a mentor to the younger boys in camp.

“It’s always an honour to be selected in these rep sides and I’ll be taking the opportunity with both hands and trying to excel to hopefully get a win for New South Wales,” said Hutchison.

“Last year I was training with the U20s and I played in the Origin side and a lot of blokes were training full time there so I took some professionalism out of it and a way of how to train.

“I’m hoping I can have the same sort of impact that a few of the older boys had last year on me.

“It will be pretty special up there, I’ve played at Suncorp before in the Origin 16s and it was a pretty big crowd so I’d love the same experience except with a win this time.

“Hame has been playing really well for the U20s this year and he’s been rewarded with his selection, so I’m looking forward to camp as we really enjoy each other’s company.”
